Conclusion

As of 2021, there are about 263 newspapers & news websites in Georgia. The ones we have discussed in this article are only the list of top newspapers & news websites in Georgia and not the full list. Out of them as of 2021, Atlanta Journal-Constitution is the top newspaper in Georgia in terms of circulation and Athens Banner-Herald is the smallest.

Though Georgia is a state with rich media history and an important market for newspapers, the circulation of newspapers has been on a steady decline. This decline in circulation is not just limited to the papers in Georgia but it’s the same for all American newspapers

With a dramatic decline in revenue from circulation and a fall in revenue from advertisements because of the popularity of social media advertisements, the newspapers in Georgia are struggling to stay afloat. It is estimated that there was a 42% decline in revenue from advertisements in the US between 2008 & 2013.

Today many Georgian newspapers have either merged with others in a desperate effort to stay afloat and the lesser fortunate ones were forced to shut down. In an effort to keep the paper running, larger newspapers in the state have reduced their print run to save publishing costs and some newspapers have switched to digital publications.
